Senior Corner

The AEA Academic Scholarship is created & funded by the teachers of Austin Public Schools. As your teachers, we recognize firsthand the profound impact that education can have on shaping futures & we are excited to support you in this next step of the journey. This scholarship opportunity is open to ALL students graduating from Austin High School who have been accepted into AND plan on attending a post-secondary program (college, university, tech school, culinary, etc.) for the upcoming Fall 2025.

Make sure you fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.

The Hormel Foundation Austin Assurance Scholarship

The Hormel Foundation Austin Assurance Scholarship (THFAAS) is a scholarship (free money) that students can use while earning a full-time or part-time education at Riverland Community College. This scholarship covers your tuition (65 credits), fees, and includes a stipend for needed books and class materials. For more information, visit austinassurance.org.

Wallin Education Partners Scholarship

Open from November 1 - February 1. This is a four-year renewable scholarship for up to $16,000 over four years to support students through college with financial aid. Eligibility requirements: Minimum of a 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need (adjusted gross income of $81,5000 or less for a family up to 5), must attend an accredited 4-year public or private institution in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, or any historically Black College or University (HBCU) in the nation.

Yearbook orders are due in early May. All sales are pre-order and books will be shipped directly to homes in August.

The due date for senior yearbook photos will be announced soon.

ACT Information 

All juniors can take the ACT test online, including the writing portion, for free at the high school. The test will be offered on April 23, 2025. Registration for this test takes place at Austin High School several weeks prior to the test. 

National ACT test date this year for juniors and seniors (for a fee) is April 13, 2025.

SchooLinks

SchooLinks is our new College and Career Readiness platform. Parents and Guardians can create accounts to aid in their student's success. To create your SchooLinks Guardian Account, watch this video. 

SchooLinks allows you to:

• View the results of your student’s career interest, strength, and mindset assessments to learn more about their interests and what careers might be right for them
• View their progress in the College and Career Readiness Curriculum as part of the Packer Profile
• View their Packer Portfolio (starting with current 9th & 10th graders)
• See what colleges and careers your student has favorited and set as goals
• Check your personalized dashboard for upcoming events as well as important reminders and to-dos for your student
• Complete your own research on colleges, careers, and more to help you have informed conversations with your student
• Compare college costs and explore expected financial aid, scholarships, and out of pocket expenses. Our local scholarships will also be loaded into the SchooLinks platform.

Caps and Gowns 

Please remind your seniors to order their cap, gown and tassel as soon as possible. Orders can be given to the cashier or the Principal's secretary. The cost is TBD. You can also go to jostens.com and order online. Please take care of this as soon as possible.
